Nickname: Used temporarily to identify players within the game. It is not permanently stored on the server and is destroyed upon the termination of the session.

Chat Logs: Real-time chat data is processed in-memory for communication but is not stored or recorded on our servers.

ShadowCatch.io is a competitive hide-and-chase action game where one Hunter faces multiple Shadows inside dark tactical maps. Every round begins with role assignment and positioning decisions in the lobby. The Hunter's mission is to hunt down and capture all Shadows before the match timer reaches zero. The Shadows' mission is to avoid capture, manage distance, and survive until time expires. Movement, spacing, and vision control matter more than random aggression. Players who rotate early, read angles, and avoid predictable paths usually outperform players who only rely on raw speed.
Gameplay revolves around pressure and evasion. The Hunter should cut off escape routes, control chokepoints, and force Shadows into bad turns near walls. The Shadows should split attention, avoid clumping, and use map geometry to break line-of-sight when chased. Dash can create short windows of separation but consumes stamina, so poor timing can leave you exposed. Catch is a Hunter-only action and must be used with proper range and direction. Winning conditions are simple: if the Hunter captures every Shadow before time runs out, the Hunter team wins; if at least one Shadow remains free when the timer ends, the Shadows win. Consistent victories come from map awareness, disciplined movement, and role-specific decision making.
